I've taken an extended break from T-Shirt designs

Genghis-detail
Before taking the break, however, I was able to take 2nd place in Derby # 15 - "Time Travel Souvenirs"

      Derby #12 - "Night"

"Down goes the sun. Out comes the moon. Night is upon us, bringing loads of visual inspiration that you're going to turn into the next Derby shirt sensation. Nocturnal life, shadows and secrets, oases of light amid dunes of darkness - what's going on out there while we're sleeping? Save your zombies, bats, vampires, witches, werewolves, black cats, ghosts, etc. for next week. Halloween is only one night a year. We're talking about the other 364. So slip on your night-vision goggles, dig up your nightcrawlers, go gentle into that good night, and give us a night-themed design worth staying up late for."

"Cosmic Hourglass" received some big love for the first day and a half of the derby, remaining in the fog until later Saturday night. It received a lot of hate from one person in the forum, but the less said about that ass the better.

      Derby #11 - "Cryptozoology"

"For some animal lovers, the astonishing variety of animal life isn't enough. No, they need to populate their personal biosphere with unicorns, yetis, chupacabras, Loch Ness monsters, Jersey devils, rocs, griffins, Carolina lizard men, and other apocryphal fauna, just to keep things interesting. And who are we to judge them? So in light of the many animal shirts we've sold in the past, we figured it was time to give the pseudo-animals their turn on the sabretoothed catwalk. Everybody get cryptozoological!"

Derby #10 - "City Without Words"

"Ah, the city. It started with the Mesopotamians and never looked back. Now most humans live in a world of stoplights and sidewalks, of storefronts and garbage trucks, cheek-by-jowl with millions of their closest friends. Not even the seductive quietude of suburbia could manage to kill off the city ideal - urbanity is hotter than ever and it's not going away. This week we're looking for designs that celebrate and criticize city living, that point out the striking or poignant or funny details in the urban environment, and that deal with subject matter unique to the city. Please don't try submitting a picture of a pizza or a pair of socks on the grounds that people in cities eat pizza and wear socks. Off-topic: a tree. On-topic: a tree growing through a sidewalk. Get the idea? Also, we will reject any re-submission from a past Derby unless significant changes have been made to it. And one more limitation: no words, or letters, or text of any kind. Let's try walking without crutches this time."

Derby #9 - "Summer Into Fall"

"Some people look forward to the crisp chill of autumn as an invigorating relief from the punishing heat of summer. Others feel their spirit wither a little more with each dying leaf. Give us a t-shirt that celebrates the seasonal change, or consoles those who are bummed out by the impending arrival of fall. Take the bitter with the sweet and mix it up into an autumn-enhancing t-shirt, one that goes well with hard cider and black bread and chilly afternoons sitting behind the end zone."

Derby #8 - "Blank is the New Pirate."

"We're tired of pirates. OK, we've had a laugh (or larrrrf) over Talk Like A Pirate Day (this Wednesday, Sept. 19), but how much more can we take before we walk our own plank? We need a new historical archetype to ironically adopt: Vikings, gauchos, centurions, samurai, Foreign Legionnaires, monks, Cossacks, something...your task this week, then, is to design a t-shirt for an archetype to replace the pirate."

      Derby #7 - "Visually Sound"

This week the theme is "designs dealing with the concept of sound: music, noise, sound effects, sound waves, the act of listening, audio technology, whatever. Think with your ears, eyes, and hands - show us what sound looks like."
